A Day at Zera

A typical day at Zera? Honestly, there’s no such thing.

Some mornings arrive already loud. A full inbox, three client calls stacked back-to-back, month-end closing, a deadline that moved overnight without asking anyone. Other mornings are quiet in an almost suspicious way, and those turn out to be the ones where the real work happens. Headphones on. Everyone in their own head. Somebody muttering at a spreadsheet.

Then somewhere around 1 o’clock the room changes. Someone gets up to make coffee and comes back with four orders they didn’t ask for. A conversation starts at one desk and spreads to three. Lunch runs a little longer than planned, as it always does, and nobody has ever once apologised for it.

Most days blur into each other, and then one of them doesn’t. A client finally breaks onto page one after eight months. A design lands exactly right on the first attempt, which rarely happens. Somebody says something so spectacularly daft at four in the afternoon that it gets quoted back to them for a month.

The People

Every agency says great work starts with great people. It’s true, and it’s also the least useful sentence ever written, because it tells you nothing whatsoever about the people.

So here are ours.

Some of us are full of ideas. Some live for the details. Some solve problems before anyone notices there was a problem, and some quietly make sure the whole thing actually gets delivered on a Thursday. Put together, it works. Separately, we’d all be a bit unbearable.

Things Nobody Puts in the Job Description

  • Ask the question. Someone else in the room has the same one and isn’t asking.
  • If a deadline is going to slip, say so early. Late news is the only kind that causes a real problem.
  • Stuck for an hour? That’s about fifty minutes too long. Go and ask someone.
  • You will be checked on, especially in your first few months. Not because we don’t trust you. Because it’s faster than letting you find out the hard way.
  • New ideas get heard; whose idea it was matters less than whether it works.
  • Nobody is too senior to be wrong in front of the team.
  • Bad days may come, but you’ll never have to face them alone. We’ll get through them together.

We Learn Out Loud

Most of what people learn here, they don’t learn in a training session. They learn it sideways. Somebody works out a faster way to do something on a Tuesday and four people know it by Thursday. Somebody senior drags a chair over for twenty minutes and saves a junior an entire week of quietly guessing. A client asks a question nobody has been asked before and the whole team ends up half an hour deep in finding out.

We do run proper training, and it matters. But the sideways kind is what sticks, and it only happens where asking is normal rather than embarrassing.

If there’s one rule here, it’s this. When you work something out, don’t keep it all to yourself.

Women at Zera

Women at Zera should feel safe, respected, empowered, and free to do their best work without having to think about it. We create an environment where every woman’s voice matters, her ideas are heard, and her contributions are recognized.

We celebrate their achievements, support their growth, and encourage them to take on new challenges with confidence. For us, creating a respectful and comfortable workplace isn’t just a policy; it’s about making sure every woman feels she belongs, is seen and heard, is appreciated, and has the space to grow.

We Celebrate Basically Anything

Birthdays. New joiners. Promotions. A project going live. A random Tuesday where somebody brought in sweets and refused to explain why.

Sometimes it’s a proper celebration with a plan and a booking. Far more often it’s a cake on a desk, ten people crowded round it, and everyone back at work within 30 minutes.

It’s not always about how big the celebration is. Sometimes it’s simply about pausing to appreciate the people and moments that make the workday feel a little more special.

The little things may not make it onto the calendar, but they become the moments people remember.
Every celebration counts.

What We Are Not

Pages like this only ever tell you the good parts. Here’s the rest of it.

We’re not a place where you’ll be handed a brief and left alone with it. Someone will check in on you, probably more often than you’d like, especially in the first few months. If that feels like hovering rather than help, this won’t suit you.

We’re not going to pretend deadlines never get tight, because they do. Some weeks are genuinely hard. What we can tell you is that when it happens, you won’t be the only one still at your desk, and nobody will pretend it isn’t happening.

We’re not the biggest agency in the country, and we’re not trying to be.

And we’re not for everyone. If what you want is to put your head down and be left alone from nine until six, you’ll find this place loud, chatty, and frequently interrupted. That’s not a flaw we’re planning to fix.

Grow With Us

Zera is growing, and we’d rather grow with people than around them. New projects mean new responsibilities, and those go to whoever’s ready for them rather than whoever has been sitting here longest. At Zera Creative, growth works both ways. When our people grow, Zera grows too.

So, think you could be part of this?
